Two of the biggest soccer teams in the world will play each other this summer in the United States.

As we exclusively revealed in January, Manchester United and Real Madrid will play each other in the United States this summer when their battle in the International Champions Cup takes them to the Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on August 2. The kick-off time is 4pm ET.

Michigan Stadium, nicknamed The Big House, is the third largest stadium in the world with an official capacity of 109,901, but it can host crowds in excess of 115,000.

The Guinness International Champions Cup is a unique tournament featuring eight of the world’s best and most recognizable soccer clubs: Real Madrid CF, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool FC, AS Roma, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Olympiacos. Twelve round robin contests will be hosted across North America with matches in New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Charlotte, Denver, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, Dallas and Ann Arbor from July 24-August 2. The tournament will crown an overall champion Monday, August 4, at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium. “The Big House represents the best in American sports and Manchester United and Real Madrid are the most famous teams in the world,” said Relevent Sports chief executive officer Charlie Stillitano. “Whether you are one of the hundred thousand fans packing University of Michigan Stadium or viewing nationally on FOX, we know the atmosphere will be unlike anything fans have ever seen.”

“This match promises to be an exciting event for players and fans alike. Tour matches of this nature provide great preparation for the team as we look forward to the 2014/15 season,” said Manchester United Group managing director, Richard Arnold. “This will be the team’s first ever match in Michigan and playing at the iconic Big House will be a memorable experience for all involved. United has over eight million followers in the US and I look forward to welcoming many of these fans to this historic fixture.”

Chevrolet — the Official Vehicle of the Guinness International Champions Cup — kicks off its seven-year shirt sponsorship with Manchester United this summer. The club will wear its Chevrolet-branded shirt during this match and all other contests during the Guinness International Champions Cup. Additionally Aon joins Chevrolet as a sponsor of the Guinness International Champions Cup, continuing their ongoing relationship with Manchester United.

Having said all of that, there’s still the slim chance that Manchester United may have to play in Europa League qualification and would have to cancel the game. The press release notes that “teams required to qualify for 2014-15 international competition based on 2013-14 domestic league finishing position may be subject to change.” Europa League qualification games are played in late July to early August.
