Cardiff City striker Craig Bellamy has been suspended for three matches after he accepted a charge by The FA of violent conduct for his behavior in the defeat against Swansea City.

After running up behind Swansea midfielder Jonathan de Guzman, Bellamy punched him in the side of the face. Presumably Bellamy was getting frustrated by his hometown club getting thrashed by Swansea in the South Wales derby. The action by the Welsh striker was not seen by the match officials. However, it was caught on video.

The three match ban goes into immediate effect. With Cardiff struggling to avoid relegation, Bellamy will now miss the games against Aston Villa (today), Wigan (this Saturday in the FA Cup) and Hull City (the following Saturday).
