Liverpool’s on-again off-again transfer negotiations with Dnipro to sign Ukrainian midfielder Yevhen Konoplyanka have resulted in the deal falling through despite reports earlier today that the player had signed a deal with the Merseyside club, according to a report by Russia-24, a Russian TV station.

According to the report, Liverpool were going to be paying Dnipro around £16million for the Ukraine international, and Konoplyanka would have eared a salary of around £57,500/week.

The 24-year-old footballer can play either as a left winger, playmaker or striker.

Manager Brendan Rodgers faced a race against time to try to sign the versatile Ukrainian international, who has 35 caps for his country, before the window closed on Friday night. In previous transfer windows, there were reports that Arsenal and Manchester United were interested in signing the player. And in this window, Tottenham were fighting Liverpool to sign the highly-rated player, but ended up dropping out of the bidding.
