Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has told his friends that he’s on his way to Manchester United for a deal believed to be in the region of £40million, according to The Independent newspaper. At the same time, Sky Sports reporter Guillem Balague says that the deal is done and will be announced in the next 24 hours.

The Independent reports that they understand Juan Mata did not put in a transfer request to speed up the developments, but that Paris Saint-Germain expressed their interest today in signing the player. Neither Manchester United nor Chelsea are making any official announcements, however the use of a third party to try to broker a deal for Manchester United is seen as a sign that the Glazers-owned club doesn’t want to repeat the mistakes of Ed Woodward from last summer.

Mata is expected to be introduced to his new Manchester United teammates in the next 48 hours.
