England’s National Team will play two friendlies in the United States this June, The Football Association confirmed today.

Both friendlies will aid in the team’s preparation for World Cup 2014. The first match is against Ecuador on Wednesday, June 4 (3pm ET kickoff), while the second match is against Honduras on Saturday, June 7 (4:45pm ET kickoff time). Both matches will be played at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium. These will be the only two friendlies the England National Team will play in the States before heading to Brazil.

England will also play a friendly against Peru at Wembley Stadium on Friday, May 30 before heading to Florida.

Regarding the announcement of the friendlies, Hodgson said:

“I’m delighted with the games we have been able to secure and the programme running up to the World Cup in general.

“I was clear to those responsible at The FA that I was looking for Central and South American opposition ahead of the tournament and that is exactly what has been delivered.

“In our training camps here and abroad, I hope to foster the spirit and work ethic that we are going to need out in Brazil.

“It is a tournament I want us to enjoy, but to do that we must work hard and play well.”

Ticket details have not yet been announced.

With England in the same World Cup group as Costa Rica, Italy and Uruguay, the matches against Peru, Ecuador and Honduras will provide a good test for The Three Lions. Plus, while there’s a large ex-pat community of Brits living in Florida, the majority of the fans attending the game in Miami will be Hondurans and Ecuadorians, so England will get an opportunity to play in front of rowdy opposing fans.
