As we reported one week ago, US striker Clint Dempsey is heading to Fulham on a loan deal.

Fulham Head Coach Rene Meulensteen confirmed today that Dempsey has undergone a medical with a view to moving back to the Craven Cottage club.

Dempsey reportedly turned down an offer from West Ham United in order to return to Fulham, the club he played for from 2007-2012.

Dempsey is currently a Seattle Sounders footballer, but has been encouraged by USMNT head coach Jurgen Klinsmann to play in Europe during the MLS off-season in order to keep his match sharpness. Dempsey was interviewed on December 6 on ESPN regarding a potential loan move to Europe. At the time, the American said that a loan deal would be finalized within one week.

If Dempsey passes the medical, it’s expected that he’ll officially join Fulham on loan on January 1.
