With the score tied at 1-1 with just two minutes to go in the 30 minutes of added extra time, Sunderland midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng scored a goal to send Sunderland through to the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup after sending Chelsea crashing out of the tournament.

Chelsea dominated the 90 minutes, but Sunderland were the better side in the 30 added extra minutes of the match, never giving up. Sunderland, bottom of the Premier League table, knocked Chelsea out of the League Cup.

With an own goal, Sunderland’s Lee Cattermole opened up the scoring in the match, gifting the opening goal to Chelsea in the 46th minute. Chelsea must have thought they had the win in the bag until the 88th minute when Fabio Borini scored an equalizer, sending the match into added extra time. And it was Sung-Yueng, the on-loan midfielder from Swansea, who netted the ball in the 118th minute to grab the victory for the Black Cats.

Sunderland will play either Manchester City, Stoke or Manchester United in the semi-final of the League Cup at Wembley. Manchester City defeated Leicester 3-1 today to qualify for the semi-final of the cup tournament.
