Paolo Rossi stars in a creative new World Cup TV commercial.

After getting a shave in a barber shop in Brazil, Rossi tries to pay with a credit card. It’s only then that the Brazilian barber realizes that it’s the Paolo Rossi, and he has flashbacks to that famous game between Italy and Brazil in the 1982 World Cup where one of the greatest Brazilian teams ever were undone by Rossi when he scored a hat trick to win the match 3-2 and send Brazil home.

Hats off to Visa for a very well produced TV commercial.

  1. Hilarious!
1982 Brasil team was the best team never win the World Cup, right besides 1974 Holland.
1998 Brasil had too many problems.

  2. I see Zidane also made an appearance at the end…I wonder what the flashbacks of the 98 final would have come up

Reverse psychology or making light of wounds from the past?

    1. Rossi wasn’t really supposed to play as he was implicated in Totonero scandal. He was banned for 3 years but later reduced to 2. If 3 years ban stayed, he wouldn’t have played.

        1. Probably the best recent world cup! Little Northern Ireland played their little hearts out, and who can forget that Germany-France epic!

          1. Agreed. Those were two amazing games. Spain kicked lumps out of a Northern Ireland but Armstrong had the last laugh. And who could forget the assault by ther German goalkeeper in that semi. You don’t see tackles like that anymore.

  3. Just watched the Italy/Brazil highlights on youtube i still have goose bumps.Rossi’s third goal was a great redirect.like Smokey said the goals from Socrates and Falaco were off the hook.great match.
