mourning Cardiff City vs Swansea City, South Wales Derby; Premier League Gameweek 10: Open Thread

It could be argued that today’s South Wales Derby is the biggest match in the 101-year rivalry between the two clubs. It’s the first time that Cardiff City have played Swansea City in the Premier League and England’s top flight division. Plus, it’ll be the most watched South Wales Derby in the long history of crunch matches between the two sides.

More than 40 buses carried Swansea fans from the west of Wales to Cardiff this morning, chaperoned by South Wales police.

  1. Christopher Harris says:

    C’mon you Swans!

Hoping for a win today. My only two fears are the inclusion of Jonjo Shelvey (please help us god) and the likelihood that Chico Flores will get sent off for a rash challenge.

Not sure how much I’ll be able to join in the open thread today. But I’ll be watching the game intently. And checking in when I can.

  2. Marc L says:

Alright there Gaffer! Best of luck to your boys! That bellend of an owner for Cardiff definitely puts me in the Swans’ camp today!

  3. Smokey Bacon says:

If MLS was running this game they would move it to the millennium stadium so we could see it with rugby lines on the pitch.

  4. Mike says:

Not sure what to expect from this derby. Swansea have more quality than Cardiff and with game changers like Michu they should come out on top in this one. Besides beating Man City Cardiff haven’t impressed.

But because this is a derby form goes out the window. Looking forward to see how this one unfolds.

  5. Smokey Bacon says:

Typical derby. It’s got 0-0 written all over it.

  6. Smokey Bacon says:

That was awful. There is more atmosphere in space than there is in this game.

  7. Smokey Bacon says:

Is Rebecca modeling next season’s Arsenal kit?

  8. Mike says:

Has either keeper had to make a save yet? very disappointed with the first half. Let’s hope the second half produces more excitement and shots at goal at least.

  9. Smokey Bacon says:

In an effort to liven up proceedings, Bond villain and part time soccer club owner Vincent Tan fired Malkey Mackay at half-time. He given him 45 minutes notice. He’s also decided to move the team to Aberystwyth :)

  10. Tony Butterworth says:

How could they not play more extra time when that sending off occurred during the original 5?

  11. goisles01 says:

Expected more bad blood than what I saw today. The Tyne-Wear derby had more atmosphere

  13. Dust says:

Layer up second season syndrome? Or just jjshelveys fault?

Swansea not playing good football. Watch Farsenal take michu in Jan… No way he stays if they continue to not improve.
