USMNT hopeful Julian Green has accepted a call-up to the USA’s upcoming friendlies against Scotland and Austria. The 18-year-old Bayern Munich footballer, who is a Tampa Bay native, won’t be eligible to play, but he’ll be training with the US squad.

He’s ineligible to play because he has played for Germany’s u-19 national team in the past. In order to play for the US in the future, he’ll need an official FIFA allegiance switch.

Here’s what Klinsmann said about Green:

“Julian Green is a tremendous talent. We have been scouting him for more than two years, and we are thrilled to bring him into our camp and introduce him to the senior team program. We believe we could help him grow into a special player.”

Green currently plays for Bayern Munich’s reserve squad.
