With eight minutes to go in the game at Upton Park, with West Ham United beating Everton 2-1, it looked like the Hammers were on course for a victory in front of the home crowd. However, that all changed when Leighton Baines scored his second goal of the match from a free kick in the 83rd minute to tie the match.

And then with five minutes ago, Everton’s Kevin Mirallas crossed the ball into the box for striker Ronelu Lukaku — on loan from Chelsea — to head the ball into the net, to win the match for Roberto Martinez’s side.

However, Lukaku banged his head when he scored the goal, and fell to the ground as the Everton players celebrated.

In his post match interview, Lukaku admitted that he didn’t know he even scored.

  1. Dean Stell says:

You can see he basically took a headbut right to the jaw. A professional boxer couldn’t land a punch in a better spot.

That’s not very good awareness by the EFC staff. The guy should probably not play at all for a couple weeks after that.

  2. gillyrosh says:

I went from being ecstatic that Lukaku scored the game-winner to being really worried about him as he lay on the ground for several minutes. I hope he’s ok.
