AS Roma has announced that the club has agreed to sell Argentina striker Erik Lamela to Tottenham Hotspur for a transfer fee of £25million with the possibility of the amount increasing to £30million with add-ons.

The Serie A club released an official statement today, which reads:

“AS Roma announces that it has signed a contract with Tottenham Hotspur for the outright sale of the rights to the player Erik Lamela in [a deal worth] 30 million euros.

“The agreement also [includes add-on fees], up to a maximum of 5 million euro for bonuses tied to the achievement of part of the Players and the English Club of certain goals.”

Personal terms and a medical will need to be finalized before a deal can be officially announced by Tottenham Hotspur, but if everything goes according to plan, this will be a significant signing by Spurs. Born in Argentina, Lamela is a 21-year-old striker who began his career at River Plate before moving to Italy where he made 62 league appearances for Roma and scored 19 goals.

Meanwhile, AS Roma also announced today that the club has sold Adem Ljajic to Fiorentina for 11 million euros.
