Seattle Sounders vs Portland Timbers: Open Thread

clint dempsey3 Seattle Sounders vs Portland Timbers: Open Thread

Clint Dempsey will make his home debut for Seattle Sounders tonight against Portland Timbers in front of a sell-out crowd of more than 66,500.

“I can’t even imagine what it’s going to be like when the whole stadium is completely packed and they are behind us,” said Dempsey, who likened his introduction in front of about 40,000 to a movie. “We’ll feed off that energy and we’ll make sure we give everything we have to let them go home happy.”

For readers in the United States, the Pacific North West derby will be televised live on television beginning at 10pm ET on ESPN2.

Pretty crazy scene, obviously, and pretty good pace to the first 20 minutes. Somewhat tough to watch after EPL all weekend, but the hopefully these dudes going all out will help there.

  2. Patrick says:

Portland looks like they’re more interested in rouhing up Dempsey and E.J than winning…

Considering I live in a MLS-free zone of the country, I haven’t followed the league and rarely watch games… but last night I tuned in for most of the game. Great environment and generally fast-moving game. Vast improvement over the early days of MLS.

    Overall enjoyable.
