Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid have agreed a world transfer record fee of £85million for Gareth Bale to move to Spain, according to a report tonight in Spain.

Spanish radio station Cope claims that a deal has been reached, and that the announcement will be made official on Friday after the Bernabeu Trophy game is played tomorrow against Al-Sadd, which will feature a tribute to former Real Madrid striker Raul.

The publication reports that Bale will be presented to the Real Madrid supporters next week.

The breaking news correlates with what noted Spanish journalist Guillem Balague reported tonight that “The [Gareth] Bale deal could be [confirmed] before tomorrow night or on Friday (Real wouldn’t want to overshadow Raul homage at the Bernabeu tomorrow).”

Meanwhile, The Guardian newspaper reported that Tottenham Hotspur Technical Director Franco Baldini was in Madrid tonight to finalize the deal.

  1. Tayo says:

Its a question of want and need. They want Bale but do not need him… I mean I am so curious to see how Ancelotti will fit Bale into his team. Will Ronaldo become a center forward? According to BBC, arsenal are interested in Benzema and Di Maria. Watch this space, the next few days will be interesting!

  2. Sam says:

I’m not sure where you got the 85 million? All the reports I read said madrid would be paying more or including Fabio Coentrao

  3. Paul says:

the report said 94 million. Daniel Levy drives a hard bargain. I wouldn’t want to deal with him. damn.

  4. Rob Donnelly says:

They just need to stump up the money, whether they have it or not is open to debate.

  5. Opeluwa Moshood Ajose says:

If it happen ,it’s a great deal but the question is ,wwill ancelloti cope with him and not having effect on our best player. Perez should think before making a fiinal decision on friday. Best of luck. Real madrid till i die. Cheers!

  6. gillyrosh says:

Poor Ancelotti. Always getting players foisted on him when he never asked for them.

  7. Frill Artist says:

    It’s over for Spurs.

  8. Clampdown says:

This all your fault, Gaffer. You kept printing all those false rumors. You unsettled Bale, and now he is leaving.

What will become of all those fresh, bright white Bale jerseys parading around Brooklyn these days?

  9. Jason says:

Well Real Madrid store is down now but they posted Bale under players kits.

They did this when the signed Modric as well. I guess this is all but official.
