Arsenal’s Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey and new signing Yaya Sanogo are doubts for the season opener against Aston Villa this Saturday after picking up injuries.

Walcott, who was training with the England squad for tomorrow’s friendly against Scotland, hurt his ankle in a training session and had to be helped from the pitch.

However, England manager Roy Hodgson intends to try to play Walcott in the friendly:

“Theo took a slight knock at the end of training, but we believe he’ll be okay. He’s very much still in contention.”

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey officially withdrew from the Wales squad yesterday and is a doubt for Saturday’s match. The Welshman suffered an ankle injury in last weekend’s Manchester City match, and will be assessed before the weekend.

Meanwhile, Arsenal new signing Yaya Sanogo is a doubt for Saturday with a hamstring injury.

The Frenchman was due to report for duty with the France under-21 side, but pulled out due to his hamstring issue, which also ruled the striker out of Arsenal’s friendly last weekend against Manchester City.

Sanogo has a history of injury problems, so hopefully Arsenal’s new signing will be able to shake off his injury soon and return to full fitness.
