Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani put an ad in an Italian newspaper today to formally say goodbye to Napoli supporters.

Cavani joined Paris-Saint Germain on a 5-year deal several weeks ago, but loved his playing time and his fans at the Serie A club Napoli. The £54million deal that PSG offered was too good for Napoli to pass up, so Cavani decided to say goodbye in a classy style — similar to how former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini bid farewell to the City supporters.

The newspaper ad that appeared in Corriere Dello Sport read:

“1000 unforgettable days, 104 special moments I experienced with you.

“Blue is always in my heart.

“Thank you so much for your love.

“Gracias Napoli.”

While the photograph is a little haunting, the ad is certainly a nice touch by Cavani.

I wonder if Wayne Rooney will do something similar for Manchester United supporters when he joins Chelsea?
