Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic has been ruled out for four to six weeks after suffering an ankle injury in the Barclays Asia Trophy competition against Sunderland last month.

The Serb, who was one of Manchester City’s most consistent players last season, was carried off on a stretcher during the game against Sunderland. The 20-year old looks likely to miss the first month of Premier League action for Manchester City, which opens the door to Joleon Lescott who has an opportunity to prove his worth alongside Vincent Kompany in defense. Dedryk Boyata will be available as a back-up in case injury or form hits Lescott.

Meanwhile, better news for City fans is that Sergio Aguero is expected to be back in training with the first team by the end of this week after suffering a knee injury.
