qpr sheffield wednesday 600x450 Queens Park Rangers vs Sheffield Wednesday, Championship Opening Day: Open Thread

Queens Park Rangers against Sheffield Wednesday kicks off at 10am ET today, live on beIN SPORT for viewers in the United States.

On this, the opening day of the Skybet Championship, the Championship season celebrates it’s 125th year anniversary. And it gives us an opportunity to see how former Premier League side QPR does under manager Harry Redknapp under a Sheffield Wednesday side who finished in 18th position in the Championship last season.

Starting lineups:

QPR: Green, Simpson, Hill, Onuoha, Traore, Barton, Faurlin, Henry, Hoilett, Zamora and Johnson.

Sheffield Wednesday: Kirkland, Gardner, Zayatte, Antonio, Johnson, Prutton, Coke, Helan, Mattock, Palmer and Nuhiu.

No Loic Remy playing today, while Joey Barton makes his return to QPR’s midfield. QPR manager Harry Redknapp, meanwhile, is on crutches after having a leg injury.

Watch the match, and post your rants, raves, questions and observations in the comments section below.

  1. Christopher Harris says:

There’s a long way to go in this game, but never underestimate sides managed by Dave Jones. He’s a great manager.

  2. Patrick says:

It is also the opening weekend for the SPL and the Eredivisie. There is also the French Super Cup, which is between PSG and Bordeaux. All in all it is a good time of year for us fans and come August 17 will get even better.

  3. Christopher Harris says:

How the hell did one of the supporters get a flare bottle into Loftus Road? So much for security.

  4. Evan Wofford says:

I hope BEin shows more Championship games this year. Unfortunately though it seems like the league is a bit forgotten when their European coverage kicks off. I’d much rather watch a live Championship game than a rerun of a PSG or Madrid game, which they run so often during the week.

way to go Forest always nice to win the opener.one match at a time the Championship is a marathon not a sprint.
