Clint Dempsey is turning his back on Tottenham Hotspur, and looks set to agree a deal to return to Major League Soccer and be allocated to Seattle Sounders. The transfer deal is reported to be £6million, while Dempsey will be on wages of £100,000 a week making him one of the most expensive players in league history, according to Richard Farley of Pro Soccer Talk.

NBC’s Pro Soccer Talk has confirmed that Dempsey is heading to Seattle after speaking with sources within the club.

While it’s a massive coup for MLS and Seattle Sounders to sign Dempsey, in a deal that may be wrapped up as early as this weekend, it’s shocking news that Dempsey is looking to hang up his Premier League boots when the American international still has so much to offer in England. Even if he was on his way out of Tottenham, there would be other Premier League sides interested in signing the Texas native.
