AC Milan soccer player Kevin Constant walked off the pitch during a pre-season friendly yesterday after allegedly being racially abused.
Milan was playing Sassuolo. Constant, who plays in midfield for the Serie A club, walked over to take a throw-in, but was on the receiving end of abuse from spectators in the crowd. He then stormed off after talking to the match referee.
The Italian Football Federation released this statement:
“The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation to ascertain the extent of the racist incident that took place at the Stadio del Tricolore in Reggio Emilia during the Milan-Sassuolo match, which saw AC Milan player Kevin Constant the subject of chants from some supporters in the stands.”
