Barcelona’s club vice-president has ruled out Cesc Fabregas leaving the Spanish club this summer.

“Barca can ensure they will not entertain any offers for Cesc,” said Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu, as quoted in The Guardian newspaper. “He is completely non-transferable.”

Bartomeu’s words are consistent with what Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova said a few days ago: “It is good to receive offers for Cesc Fabregas – it means he is playing well. I talked with him and he told me he wants to stay. His dream is to triumph here.”

Yet, at the same time, Manchester United manager David Moyes had this to say while in Australia on the club’s pre-season tour: “The chief executive [Ed Woodward] has been dealing with [trying to sign Fabregas],” said Moyes. “I may have a bit more information in the next day or so about how it’s going.”

Moyes added, “There’s no change. As far as players we’re looking to bring in, we’re trying very hard to make some additions to the squad. Hopefully there’ll be some good news in the not too distant future.”

However, unless Fabregas is interested in leaving Barcelona, it looks likely that the creative midfielder will continue playing in La Liga. The comment from his club vice-president is very emphatic, and this may mark the end of the Fabregas transfer saga — at least for this summer.
