Sevilla President José María del Nido has confirmed that Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo is set to leave the club and join Manchester City.

“We are about to close the sale of [Alvaro Negredo] and, if everything goes [well] and everything is signed, [he will] soon [say] goodbye [to] the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Manchester City [are buying a great player, the top scorer in the Spanish league.”

The latest transfer speculation is that Manchester City will pay £21.5million to sign Negredo. The 27-year-old striker, who was 14 caps for the Spanish national team, made 139 league appearances for Sevilla from 2009-13.
