Sevilla President José María del Nido has confirmed that Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo is set to leave the club and join Manchester City.

“We are about to close the sale of [Alvaro Negredo] and, if everything goes [well] and everything is signed, [he will] soon [say] goodbye [to] the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Manchester City [are buying a great player, the top scorer in the Spanish league.”

The latest transfer speculation is that Manchester City will pay £21.5million to sign Negredo. The 27-year-old striker, who was 14 caps for the Spanish national team, made 139 league appearances for Sevilla from 2009-13.

Here are highlights of Negredo’s goals for Sevilla during the 2012-13 La Liga campaign:

Don’t mind 21.5 for him. Look at his scoring (and age) as compared to Falcao. Difference of one in both goals and years.

Jovetic coming too, apparently, but they may wait to cross all the t’s on that due to some date-sensitive contractual provisions.

Nothing final till it’s final, but Jovetic has apparently said all his goodbyes in Italy yesterday and the betting sites are up to 1/10 on that going down.

  2. christian says:

Hopefully Jovetic is in the fold as well. We have to keep up with the rest of the league.

  3. Rob Donnelly says:

Should be some decent deals for City’s cast offs after they buy half a team again this year.
