Andre Villas-Boas says he plans on quitting management in the next five to 10 years to realize one of his lifetime ambitions, which is to drive in the Dakar Rally.

The Tottenham Hotspur manager made the comment to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo. Here’s what he said:

“For me, there is a limit and, in the next five to 10 years, I will quit coaching.

“To compete in the Dakar Rally is a lifetime ambition for me and is something I know I have to do.

“It went from a passion to an obligation, a destination of life, but I can only do it when I leave football. I will do it.

“I do not know where my career will take me. What I do know is that it will not last too long.”

I don’t blame Villas-Boas one bit for wanting to make one of his dreams come true. In many ways, it’ll make him work that much harder to accomplish everything he can as a manager in the next 5-10 years so he can then realize his dream. Hats off to him.
