I’m not following the new format… are you only covering teams you like to watch or world football? Ireland Spain is a side show. There are real WC qualifiers today… But we get TV listings and line ups for a useless friendly. What am I missing in this new format?

The two main games tonight, for readers in North America, are highlighted in this open thread. Spain-Ireland is a high-profile friendly on US soil featuring the current World Cup and European champion. It’s hardly a side-show. Other World Cup qualifier games are mentioned in the article too. All the major games tonight are covered.

The reason the line-ups are listed for Spain-Ireland was because that was the early friendly (and the article went live around 7.30pm ET tonight, way before the US game).

Is there any purpose to Fox Soccer right now? Is anyone feasting on repeats of those Europa League classics like Athletico vs Victoria Plzen?

That’s typical summer fare on FSC. Only difference is that it will not end with PL matches in the middle of August.
