Jose Mourinho gave his first press conference as new manager of Chelsea Football Club today where he seemed in a more reflective and humble mood than in the past.

Mourinho labeled himself as ‘The Happy One,’ he set the record straight by saying that he wasn’t sacked last time but left by mutual agreement, he said he’s looking forward to working with his former Chelsea footballers, and that he is prepared to stay at Chelsea for a long time now.

Here are some choice quotes from him today:

“I am the happy one. Time flies. It looks like it was a couple of years but it was nine years ago. Since then a lot happened.

“I am a very happy person. It’s the first time I arrived in a club where I already love the club.

“I keep hearing I was sacked [in ’07]. That was not true. It was a mutual agreement at that time.

“I have more responsibility because of that. Expectations are higher because people know what I can deliver

“This club has a special fanbase… [but] I want to be loved for what I can do from now.

“I am now prepared [to stay for a long time]. Before I wasn’t.

“I am where I want to be. It is up to me to work hard and show my club I deserve to be here for a long time.

“Every club has ambition to add a couple of new players, to improve the squad & increase competitiveness.

“The most important part of my job is improvement of the boys. Big potential. I am more than happy to help them.

“I move to a league where you lose more points but the competition is open – it is not just for two.”
