It was a brief but amusing moment in the Europa League semi-final between Chelsea and Basel at Stamford Bridge. In the second half between the two sides, Basel prepared to take a corner near The Shed End. Everything seemed quite normal.

Except that the stewards got in the way. Marcelo Diaz patiently waited a second or two to let a couple of stewards pass, but then when he was preparing to take the kick again, even more stewards streamed past him.

This is the first time I’ve seen anything like this before. What happened to British etiquette?!

You’ve got to love the one Basel fan who runs down to scream at the stewards, only for the stewards to block his path and to act all stewardly.

H/T 101 Great Goals.
