You had to know it was going to happen.

On his return to the Emirates Stadium, Robin van Persie scored against his old club Arsenal on Sunday with a brilliantly-taken penalty kick to tie the game 1-1 at half-time between Arsenal and Manchester United.

Late in the first half, with van Persie storming into the Arsenal penalty area, defender Bacary Sagna attempted to tackle the ball away from the Dutch striker, but he ended up knocking van Persie to the ground before he touched the ball.

Up stepped Robin van Persie to score for Manchester United against Arsenal.

Here’s the video highlight of the incident and goal:

I’m always confused by what the point of these kind of posts are ? Just to build traffic??

    • Wigglesworth81 says:

I agree, there were more memorable plays and goals today. I guess all things United will be the flavor for the rest of the season.

      • CTBlues says:

I also think Gaffer crawled into a hole after his game today and it trying to draw attention away from it.

        • The Gaffer says:

LOL! I’ve been on the road today so I’ve been following most matches via the radio (Talksport.com).

          Cheers,
          The Gaffer

    • The Gaffer says:

To provide people with clips of action if they’re unable to watch the game live, or if they’re at work.

      Cheers,
      The Gaffer

  2. Dave says:

Sagna made two bone-headed plays in 15 seconds. First giving the ball away cheaply to Van Persie and then tackling him in the box and bringing him down. Will Arsenal regret this draw? We shall see. They still have the easiest games left with QPR next which should be an easy 3 points.

  3. Sammy says:

He didn’t celebrate, right? Good on him.
