Gareth Bale took advantage of a bizarre defensive blunder by Wigan Athletic today to open up the scoring at the DW Stadium.

Wigan defender Maynor Figueroa and goalkeeper Joel Robles were passing the ball back and forth in their own area until Bale capitalized on an opportunity to pressure Robles, and rushed down on the ball to rebound it into the back of the net.

The match of the day took off at a feverish pace. After the goal by Bale, Wigan equalized through a header by Emmerson Boyce. At this rate, this key match could end up being the best one of the weekend if the end-to-end action continues.

One Response to Tottenham’s Gareth Bale Scores Bizarre Goal After Defensive Blunder By Wigan [VIDEO]

  1. Andre says:

We are all familiar with Wigan’s routine late season pushes to avoid relegation… watching this goal and what happened in the game since I get the feeling they are going to do it again. Give up a brainless goal against a superior opponent then equalize straight away and go 2-1 up.

They have a game in hand on Villa, face them head to head the last game of the season, and as of now have a better goal difference.
