ENGLISH COMMENTATORS

Ray Parlour

Ray Parlour joined the talkSPORT squad after a playing career at Arsenal, Middlesbrough and Hull City. Nicknamed The Romford Pelé, he spent 14 years with the Gunners and won 10 caps for England. He now makes regular appearances on talkSPORT’s big football shows Matchday Live and Sunday Exclusive and talkSPORT Live.

Bobby Gould

Starting out at Coventry City, Bobby he scored 40 goals for the Sky Blues before going to Arsenal, Wolves, West Brom and winning the FA Cup with West Ham before becoming player-coach at Bristol and Hereford United. He also led Wimbledon to victory in the 1988 FA Cup and was Wales manager for 4 years in the late nineties.

Alvin Martin

Ex-England defender Alvin Martin appeared in 598 matches for West Ham and scored 34 goals in that time. After 22 years marshaling the Hammers’ back line, he was handed two testimonials and went into management with Southend United for two seasons. His Liverpudlian tones can be heard on Football First for post-match analysis and talkSPORT Live.

Ian Danter

Danter started his media career commentating on Villa, Birmingham and Albion games at BRMB radio in Birmingham. He joined talkSPORT at the start of 2004/5 football season as a Midlands-based reporter and now presents Football First and can regularly be heard on talkSPORT Live.

Stan Collymore

Stan played for Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Aston Villa – breaking national transfer records at all three – and also made an appearance for England during his football career. He is now talkSPORT’s Chief Football Commentator and hosts the fastest football phone-in on the dial, Call Collymore, every Saturday and Sunday as well as talkSPORT Live.

Sam Matterface

Sam Matterface kicked off his media career at hospital radio, before moving to BBC Radio Kent. He came to prominence in 2001 on 107.4 The Quay, where as the sports editor he covered Portsmouth’s rise to the Premier League under Harry Redknapp. From there, he got a gig on Sky Sports News before landing a role at talkSPORT as Chief Football Commentator alongside Stan Collymore.

John Anderson

John Anderson is talkSPORT’s England correspondent and covered the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012 for the station. In a 30-year broadcasting career he has covered three World Cups, five European Championships and six Olympic Games, and his experiences as a globetrotting reporter are chronicled in his memoir A Great Face For Radio.

Kevin Hatchard

Kevin Hatchard has been a sports commentator for fifteen years, and has covered matches at all levels from Halifax and Highworth to the Barclays Premier League. Kevin has commentated on Grand Slam deciders in rugby, FA Cup and play-off finals in football, and was proud to be part of Channel 4’s commentary team for the London 2012 Paralympics.

Phil Blacker

Phil is a familiar voice on talkSPORT in the UK and also to a worldwide TV audience of the English Premier League through his commentary with Sky Sports. He has worked in commercial radio sport in London for over a decade, commentating and presenting at many major events, including three Champions League finals and the last two World Cups.

Richard Connelly

Richard Connelly worked for BBC Radio for eleven years before turning freelance. He has commentated on the 2010 World Cup final, covered Blackburn Rovers for five seasons and got his first taste of tear gas while covering a match in Kenya.  He loves sharing the excitement of the Premier League with fans around the world – he’s on Twitter @RichConnelly.

Tom Rennie

Tom Rennie has worked in football commentary for five years on the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Championship, as well as football from Chile, Argentina, Brazil, France, Australia and the USA. He is now the English editor of talkSPORT Live, as well as being a key part of the commentary team and the host of the talkSPORT Live Premier League Preview Show, working with the likes of Andy Gray and Stan Collymore. Nigel Adderley

Nigel Adderley is a familiar name and voice who previously worked at BBC Radio 5 Live. He worked as a commentator at his first World Cup in 2006. Adderley has also done commentary for BBC’s Match Of The Day, the Football League Show and talkSPORT.

 

SPANISH COMMENTATORS

Isabelo Bejarano

Isabelo was just 20 when he started to commentate on football matches while he was a Journalism student in Madrid. After working as a journalist in Cordoba, he set up a radio station for Cordoba CF before moving to London where he now passionately commentates on the Barclays Premier League for talkSPORT Live.

Miguel Angel Castaneda

Miguel has been a lifelong supporter of football and started his career in Spain, where he commentated on football matches for a variety of medium before taking up the microphone at talkSPORT Live.

Jon Hernández

Jon has been devoted to sport for as long as he can remember, and after spending three years commentating on La Liga and Europa League matches for Cadena Ser radio in Spain, he decided to take up a new challenge commentating for talkSPORT Live.

Alvaro Romeo

Passionate about football, Alvaro Romeo has worked for Eurosport International and several more news desks. He has also commentated on Olympic sports and tennis, his main focus is now the Premier League.

Antonio Fuentes

Antonio started his career in Málaga before making the jump to a national radio station. Since then, he has commentated on some of the major sports events in Spain such as Copa del Rey’s final and the ACB play offs.

Nico Faure

Nico has commentated on a wide range of sports in London, including swimming, water polo and athletics, but his real passion is for football. He has been with talkSPORT Live Espanol since September 2012.

José Miguel Pinochet

José Miguel has made a long journey in sports world, commentating on football World Cups and the Olympics for the BBC. He is the correspondent for ESPN in UK and he also collaborates with Cadena Ser in Spain, Estadio W in Mexico and Victor Hugo Morales in Argentina.

Begoña Pérez

For the past eight years, Begoña has been a journalist based in London working for two leading Spanish media organisations, Cadena Cope and El Mundo.  Currently, she is the Chief Spanish Football Correspondent for talkSPORT Live and the presenter of preview show ‘Estadio Premier’ and regularly covers Champions League and Premier League matches.

Alberto Montoya

Alberto was born to commentate on sports and he has been doing so, mainly football, since he finished his studies in Spain. He has been commentating for talkSPORT since it began in August 2012.

Luis Fernando Restrepo

Originally hailing from Colombia, where he commentated for the biggest sports radio station, Luis has more than 25 years of experience in sports media. He has also covered World Cups with the BBC World Service and the Olympics, but has now found his home with talkSPORT Live Espanol.

Juan Negrete

Juan began his career working for Radio Intercontinental, Onda Cero radio Cantabria, broadcasting football matches and presenting a daily sports show in Spain. A sport journalist through and through, he wrote sports articles for Spanish newspaper El Mundo. He then moved to London where he commentates for talkSPORT Live.

Juan Heredia

Since graduating from Universidad de Málaga in Spain, Juan has been commentating on football matches for more than eight years. Having commentated La Liga and Second División in Spain for Punto Radio, Juan has worked as a TV presenter and also correspondent based in Almería for Diario As.

Borja Porras

He has been working in the Spanish sport media for five years, working at sports newspapers Diario As and Marca and sports radio station Radio Marca. He moved to London and has been working commentating for talkSPORT Live Espanol since then.

Fernando García

Since arriving in London from Madrid, Fernando has commentated on both the Championship and League One amongst others. He has also collaborated on articles about the Premier League for two important Spanish-written newspapers. He then joined talkSPORT Live Espanol.

Eduardo Siles

Eduardo started his career at Spanish radio station Cope Radio as a journalist and then he made a jump into sports with Libertad Digital and digital station esRadio in Spain where he commentated football matches before coming to talkSPORT Live Espanol.

 

MANDARIN COMMENTATORS

He Yu

With past experience as a freelance commentator, Yu He now works exclusively for talkSPORT Live. A Manchester United supporter, he is fascinated by the various styles of football seen around the world and also loves watching La Liga, Series A and Bundesliga as well as Premier League.

Zheng Yang

Yang has been playing football for as long as he can remember, and has received almost ten years professional football training. A marketing graduate, he now works as a Mandarin football commentator for Perform and talkSPORT.

Xia Ding

Xia played football professionally for ten years in Beijing and has commentated on around 200 matches, including Primeira Liga, France-Ligue 1, Europa League, WC Qualification, Eredivisie, Belgium Pro League, Scotland Premier League, Russian Premier League, Turkey Super Liga, and South America-Copa Libertadores.

Shi Zheng

Shi is a football enthusiast and commentator for talkSPORT, commentating on Premier League matches, FA Cup and League Cup games, and also contributing to radio programmes all over the world.

Liu Huan

A huge fan of Liverpool FC since he was fifteen, Liu cut his commentating teeth online, covering over one hundred live football matches in Mandarin. These experiences gave him a solid foundation in commentating skills as well as enhanced knowledge of football teams and tactics.

Jia Shunhao

Shunhao originally trained with Qingdao Hainiu Football Club, before taking up the microphone at talkSPORT Live as a commentator. Aside from his admiration for the English football development system, particularly its focus on youth training, Shunhao’s other passions includes Dutch football and Spanish football style.

Cai Huiqiang

A die-hard Arsenal supporter since the age of ten, Huiqiang has seen the game from all sides as he is a keen player and a qualified referee, as well as having coached an under-12 team for one season. He now commentates with talkSPORT Live.

Sunny Li Ning 

Previously a financial journalist, Sunny has also worked as a football commentator for IMG Media and Perform Group. A passionate sports fan, he has studied and lived in England, Scotland, Wales and US and been following other sports such as basketball, America football and tennis.

Ahmad Mahfuz Gazali

Mahfuz hails from Malaysia, and is a talkSPORT International Commentator for the Malay team. Currently studying for a PhD at King’s College London, Ahmad has an immense interest and passion for football and has followed the Barclays Premier League and other European leagues since he was ten.
