Chelsea’s Demba Ba Scores to Knock Manchester United Out of the FA Cup [GIF]

Chelsea striker Demba Ba scored a sublime goal in the 49th minute of the FA Cup 6th Round replay match against Manchester United to make it 1-0 to the Blues. The goal ended up knocking Manchester United out of the tournament.

Juan Mata floated the inch-perfect cross into Manchester United’s penalty area, over Rio Ferdinand and over the shoulder of Ba, who turned his body and hit the ball with his right foot to send the ball into the corner of the net.

Chelsea will play Manchester City in the semi-final of the FA Cup on April 14 at 11am ET.

  1. Now utd lost the game and fergie will blame the fatigue against madrid and if he loses again against city the same excuse will go on….,

  2. I was very surprised with United’s lineup leaving out van Persie. When van Persie came in he had a couple of golden chances that he missed.

Fergie hates losing to Rafa and now United only have the title that they will win this season. Only a few weeks ago they were talking about the treble.

That mask that Torres is wearing, is he trying to disguise himself? :-)

Great goal by Ba. The semifinal between Chelsea and Manchester City should be a terrific game with all the talent on show.

  3. Well good – I don’t think I could handle two Derby matches in one week. Normally I need approximately 6-8 weeks between them to allow the built-up hostility to diminish.

Also, although it is fun to make Abramovich jokes, I’ve never really had anything against Chelsea. I always wanted to see them get trophies when they were the only realistic alternative to the rags getting them.

  4. Fergie didn’t look too upset at being knocked out of the FA Cup. His body language wasn’t the same as when his team loses in the league or Champions League.

I think he wants to amass the highest points total in winning the league title. Wants to break Mourinho’s record with Chelsea. They should do it very easily.
