The international break is over! Huzzah!

In today’s news, Luis Suarez has gotten into trouble again. This time it’s for punching an opposition footballer in the face during a World Cup qualifier match for Uruguay against Chile. The incident was captured on camera as Suarez punched Gonzalo Jara in the face. It’s possible that FIFA may take a closer look at the incident and ban Suarez.

thank GOD the international break is over and suarez is still a A-hole.

  2. Mufc77 says:

While I have no love for that disgusting racist piece of crap Luis Suarez the refs need to do something about all the holding that goes on in the box from corners.

It’s gotten beyond ridiculous now the way players are being held back and for some reason the refs NEVER EVER call the foul. It seems to have gotten worse the last couple if years with every team doing it. Start handing out cards and penalty for off the ball holding/fouls and it will soon stop.

Oh and a 7 game ban for the racist throwing a punch.

    • Sammy says:

And yet he complains about how people are always criticising him and picking on him when it is quite clear that he deserves what he’s getting. While I agree that some people may be going overboard in their treatment towards him, Suarez should at least make the effort to improve his behaviour and understand why so many feel the way they do towards him. Apparently he isn’t, and that’s where the problem lies.

      • el lechero says:

Not saying it’s totally acceptable, but worse things than this happen during corners in many matches.

Also, there wasn’t much outrage when a similar punch was thrown by david villa a few years ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVrjnceW1kU
Tell me which one is worse, and then consider if you are overreacting. There are much more prominent news stories than this silly little incident.

        • dust says:

Just because Villa wasn’t adequately castigated by the media or punished by fifa does not mean that what Suarez did is ok or not as bad lol

What a ridiculous thing to say

          • el lechero says:

i didn’t say it was ok of him to do at all.

I simply want to point out that it’s not such a big deal. And everybody seems to scrutinize such a wimpy punch, the likes of which happens all the time.

          • el lechero says:

also, the media’s job is not to castigate players, but to report the facts.

          • dust says:

I didn’t suggest it was the media’s job job to castigate, I was just pointing out a fact.

            This doesn’t make sense…

“i didn’t say it was ok of him to do at all.”

            then followed by,

“I simply want to point out that it’s not such a big deal. And everybody seems to scrutinize such a wimpy punch, the likes of which happens all the time.”

LOL what? all the time? are you watching some weird MMA mix with football?

  3. Sammy says:

Sad to see that he succumbed to his temper. Looks like he has no excuse this time and will just have to face the consequences.

    • Mufc77 says:

I’m sure he will play the victim card at some point or he might just blame Alex ferguson and the media he controls.

  4. Ryan says:

I know I’m a Liverpool supporter and all, but doesn’t it just kind of look like he’s pushing off the defender’s face with his fist?

I know that sounds really silly, but look at the defender, it’s a gradual push back and barely one at that?

It would warrant a yellow I guess, but they’re both pushing and pulling for position?

  5. Yespage says:

That is terrible capture! How’s about showing a second or two to indicate the impacted player’s reaction? Suarez seems to punch him, at least in the sense of punching a person behind him… and in the sense of it is difficult to tell if he intended to hit the player in the face.

    Probably red card territory.

  6. Tyler says:

a ban or do you mean suspension?

  7. dust says:

I cant remember who it was that said Suarez was no worse than Bale … lol… I don’t care how much he is being held, punching another player on the field is a joke, WHo cares if he is banned for international duty, he should be banned from all football for 8 games.

look at the character of the player, he is a bad egg, but I guess he fits in well at Liverpool.

right on beware of pool fanatics you will be branded a racist idiot and a moron.

      • dust says:

i think it pretty clear for the time i’ve been posing i’m none of those, however, we are talking about pool fans… those ones that continue to defend Suarez are particularly unbalanced i’ve found too. lol

        …wait for it………

        • jtm371 says:

          Dust
i know your none of those things.but if you criticize their favorite rabbit they go crazy i know i was called all those names.he is one of the dirtiest players ever in the EPL IMHO!

  8. Fog says:

Let’s see…biting, diving (and then admitting it), intentional hand ball in the WC (then bragging about it), racism, and now punching a defender.

What is wrong with FIFA? Why aren’t they making Suarez their poster person to show that corruption and foul play also exists outside of FIFA headquarters?

Blatter and Platini should be proud.

  9. Bishopville Red says:

I’m sure it’s just a cultural thing. South Americans punch each other in the face all the time, it’s just a casual greeting!

    SB

  10. Terry says:

Fair play to Jara for not rolling on the floor and pretending he was shot by a bullet. He just got on with the game. Suarez was not happy with Jara for some of the things he’d done before the incident. This type of behavior happens all the time in S. America which is why Jara didn’t make more of the incident.

I think Suarez will get a ban but considering Jara was all over him before the incident occurred he will get a 2-match ban at most.

  11. Frill Artist says:

    Idiot.

  12. First sorry for my english,b

  13. I am chilean ,southamerican and I think thanks people like Suarez europeans thinks we dont have principles and they convince themselves with racist ideas about the superiority of the human condition between europa and our culture.Fifa has to do something against this stupid
