Middlesbrough vs Chelsea, FA Cup 5th Round: Open Thread

Chelsea plays Middlesbrough today at the Riverside Stadium in the north east of England. A win for the Blues today and they’ll play Manchester United in the sixth round. If it’s a draw, it’ll be another fixture added to Chelsea’s already congested fixture schedule.

Chelsea’s match against Boro comes under increasing pressure for Rafa Benitez after it was revealed that there was a bust-up on the training pitch earlier this week. Benitez will want noting more than a victory tonight so the talking points can focus on what’s happening on the pitch rather than off it.

For readers in the United States, the match will be shown live today on FOX Soccer at 2:45pm ET.

  1. So if this went to a replay, United’s match against West Ham will go ahead on the 9th of March, looks more like it.

    1. Nothing more or less than Walker or Parker. Why is it that that Parker shows grit and tenacity and Ramires who does the same thing is a dirty player ?

      1. Scott Parker is Clumsy exhibit 1: was the challenge in the pen v west ham.

Walker can have his moments or stupidity for sure BAE is the dirtiest player Spurs have.

        CFC have many many….

Did you see Rafa’s press conference?

LOL what a joke of a club… such a mess… perhaps john Terry can take over ….

  2. Cannot wait for the ManU – Chelsea game in the next round o Sunday March 10th. Rafa vs Fergie. Gota love it!

United will be favorites not only because they are at home but also will have played on Tuesday in the CL at home (no travelling) while Chelsea will have played on Thursday in the Europa League away in Bucharest.
