We’re at the halfway point of the month of February, and many of you are suffering through cold weather and dark, dreary nights at this time of the year. It’s perfect book reading weather, so if you haven’t had a chance to pick up a copy of the latest book for EPL Talk’s book discussion group, now is the time.

The Greatest Footballer You Never Saw is a brilliant book about Robin Friday, the incredibly gifted footballer who played for Reading and Cardiff City in the seventies. The man would have been a top footballer in England if it wasn’t for his off-the-pitch behavior.

The 192-page book is an easy read. It’s put together in a format that includes short paragraphs from the people closest to him, telling us what was happening in his life (both on and off the pitch) throughout his life. It reads almost like an intimate diary, giving us insight into what the life of a professional footballer was like then. I’m halfway through the book and enjoying it immensely.

Go ahead and order a paperback version of the book or buy it on the Kindle.

It’s a perfect time to read about Robin Friday’s life story. A movie is in the works, and the production company has just launched a website.
