beIN SPORT to Broadcast Swansea-Chelsea League Cup Semi Final Online Today

Better late than never, beIN SPORT has decided to make today’s League Cup semi-final second leg match between Swansea and Chelsea available to viewers in the United States.

The match won’t be shown live on television, but it will be available online beginning around 2:30pm ET today. The reason why Swansea-Chelsea isn’t on television in the United States is because beIN SPORT has decided to show Copa del Rey matches instead of the League Cup.

According to beIN SPORT’s Twitter account, the broadcaster will make the special link available 5-10 minutes prior to kick off. There’s nothing like flying by the seat of your pants on a massive day for both Chelsea and Swansea, where the aggregate winner will face Bradford in the Carling Cup Final.

Here’s the link to watch the game live, free online: http://beinsportlivestreaming.overon.es/

  1. Jake says:

Do you have to have a tv provider with beinsport or will anyone be able to watch online?

    • The Gaffer says:

It sounds like it’ll be the latter, at least for today.

      Cheers,
      The Gaffer

    • Conrad says:

i’d say it’ll be free to anyone, since this is thrown together already. i doubt they’ve had time to implement a “sign in through your cable provider” access like ESPN3 has.

  2. Jason Gatties says:

I think this is probably a lot more “massive” for Swansea than it is for Chelsea.

    • The Gaffer says:

It depends on your perspective. This tournament is Chelsea’s best chance to win some silverware, and you can bet that Benitez will want to win it to increase his chances of being named the permanent manager at Chelsea.

It’d be massive for Swansea, but like Laudrup said yesterday, just one of Chelsea’s players (not Torres) cost more than the entire Swansea squad, so you would think Chelsea can still find a way to make it through.

But back to your main point, I think it’s a massive game for both clubs — but for two very different reasons.

      Cheers,
      The Gaffer

  3. M owen says:

gaffer, do you know if any where we can watch the BBC’s Match Of the Day or its sky sports equivalent?

    • The Gaffer says:

There’s no legal way to watch MOTD unless you use a private VPN. As for the Sky Sports equivalent, there isn’t any since BBC has the TV rights to match highlights. Your best bet is the EPL Review Show on Sunday nights on FOX Soccer.

      Cheers,
      The Gaffer

      • M Owen says:

        Oh okay thanks gaffer

But what’s show Gary Neville and redknapp is on isn’t that similar to MOTD ?

        • The Gaffer says:

That’s the Monday Night Football Show on Sky Sports featuring Gary Neville. That one isn’t accessible in the States.

          Cheers,
          The Gaffer

  4. Marc says:

bein has been a major disapointment for me. Being a English soccer supporter I was delighted when they won the rights to the N Power Championship and the League Cup. Now it seems they put both on the back burner since bein did not win the EPL rights.

  5. Fog says:

I just hope that they do not have that god-awful Ray Hudson involved in the broadcast!!!

I agree with Marc that beIN’s handling of the N Power Championship has been very disappointing…

  6. Matt says:

Loving the Directv iPhone app right now. One of the free live streaming channels is Bein, so I’ll be discretely watching it from the lab today.

    • Guy says:

You’re not doing my blood work, are you? ;-)

    • The Gaffer says:

Is that live streaming the TV channel, or live streaming their live streaming feed/online? If it’s the TV channel, beIN SPORT won’t be showing the game until 5:30pm ET on TV today.

      Cheers,
      The Gaffer
