It was the draw that none of the Premier League (or British) teams wanted. In the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, Manchester United has been drawn against Real Madrid. Arsenal has been drawn against Bayern Munich, while Glasgow Celtic has been drawn against Juventus.

It’s unlikely that any of the three teams will advance to the latter stages of the tournament.

In Nyon early this morning, the three British teams could have been drawn against a choice of several other teams, but luck wasn’t on their side. Here is the draw in full:

Galatasaray vs Schalke,

Celtic vs Juventus,

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich,

Shakhtar Donetsk vs Borussia Dortmund,

AC Milan vs Barcelona,

Real Madrid vs Manchester United,

Valencia vs Paris St. Germain,

Porto vs Malaga.

Both teams will play each other home and away in February. The first legs will be played on February 12 and 20, while the second legs will kick off on March 5 and 12.

What do you think? Do you share my same pessimism about the chances of the British teams, or do you think that the trio will find a way to overcome their opposition? Share your opinions in the comments section below.
