After an entertaining Saturday yesterday, today’s two matches are of upmost importance. First up is the Tyne-Wear derby between Sunderland and Newcastle United. It’s been yonks since Sunderland have beaten the Geordies, so the pressure is on the Black Cats to record a rare victory against a Newcastle team that has had a so-so season so far. This type of derby doesn’t usually generate a ton of goals, but the tension is palpable.

In the second and final match of the day, it’s an equally tense match but for different reasons. Queens Park Rangers plays Everton in a must-win home match. If QPR loses, then the pressure will be on QPR owner Tony Fernandez to sack Mark Hughes. A win for Hughes against a high-flying Everton side will be a massive boost.
