Poland vs England, World Cup Qualification Match: Open Thread

England faces its toughest test in its World Cup qualification group tonight when they play away against Poland.

Roy Hodgson has made six changes to the side, to bring in more experience into this England team.

England starting XI: Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, Phil Jagielka, Joleon Lescott, Ashley Cole, James Milner, Steven Gerrard, Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley, Wayne Rooney, Jermain Defoe.

For soccer fans in the United States, the match will be shown live on ESPN3.com at 3pm ET.

ESPN3 is the place to be today where they have 20 additional World Cup qualifying matches being shown today including Croatia against Wales and Spain vs France. The match between Spain and France is also being shown live on ESPN2.

  1. Unfortunately it looks like the game between Poland and England is going to be postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

    The stadium in Poland has a retractable roof, but according to Polish officials, the roof cannot be closed because the rain is too heavy.

    It’ll be a miracle if the Poland vs England game is played. So instead of watching that, feel free to watch France vs Spain on ESPN2 or Croatia vs Wales on ESPN3.com

    The English press is going to have a field day regarding the fiasco in Poland.

    1. The roof can’t be closed because the rain is too heavy! Cracking example of flawed design there then. Apparently the Poles wanted to leave the roof open according to reports over here.

        1. There was a difference of opinion between Polish and English officials as to when the match should be played. The Poles wanted to postpone the game until their November friendly date but the English FA referenced FIFA regulations to win the argument and have the match played on Wednesday. The final decision when to stage the game was made by FIFA match delegate Danijel Jost.
          According to Polish journalists, home manager Waldemar Fornalik had asked for the roof to be left open on Monday because he thought the forecast rain would be a leveller against England.

  2. ive watched 25mins and im afraid to say things dont change under new manager so why did we change the manager…change the players and the playing mentality of the coaches and players.we have suffered over the golden generation years because players dont know whay to do when they get to a higher level of the game..wake up english fa and allow people that know the game to bring it forward instead of going round in the vicious circle that as been for many years..
