We’re back for another Saturday of Premier League matches kicking off today. First up is Swansea against West Ham United. The big news out of Wales this morning is that Scott Sinclair is not playing and he’s not even on the bench, so a move to Manchester City must be close.
After the Swansea-West Ham match, there are several 10am ET?3pm BST matches in store — with Tottenham against West Brom, Norwich against QPR, Southampton against Wigan, Sunderland versus Reading, Aston Villa battles Everton and, of course, Manchester United against Fulham.
Then the final match of the day is the big one — Chelsea versus Newcastle United.
Lots of wonderful soccer is in store today.
Before, during or after the matches today, post your rants, raves, questions and observations in the comments section below.
West Ham has started well. They’re closing down the Swansea players, making them make mistakes, pressing well, and stopping Swansea from playing their game. The Swans need to lift themselves up and start passing better.
Cheers,
The Gaffer
I’ve gotta say Gaffer, I really do love watching your boys play. Well worth the 6:45 (central time) wake up.
Thanks Matt! I enjoy watching them play too. West Ham is doing a good job at stifling their play right now, but the Swans got a lucky break with that goal. But I’ll take it!
Cheers,
The Gaffer
Awful, awful, awful, James Collins.
Gift for Michu.
Go for 5 again, Swans!
Swans on their way to 6 points and PLUS 7 after 2 matches. Good for them, although I confess to having some sympathies for West Ham via some East London relations of mine.
Wow. What an amazing lapse.
Michu, I love you man!
Beautiful mistake by ex-Cardiff man James Collins.
Cheers,
The Gaffer
LoL…west ham…if Dawson doesn’t go to QPR…Big Sam you can have him
“X-Rated stuff” – ha ha, good line by Ian Darke right there.
Chico and Michiu sound like Pokemon lol, what was that rolling about by Chico?
Swansea secret is that beautiful sea air and the Fish N’ Chips.
So pretty from Dyer there, shame Graham had to ruin it.
How do you miss that??
I had some doubts about Michu in the Prem… looks like I was very wrong.
the guy single handedly kept Vallecano up, I know some of you guys who support the EPL discredit La Liga, but the guy scored 17 goals last season and was close to a Spanish NT call-up!
Swansea, o lala! Impressive 2 games in!!!
Gaffer
in another 25 mins your going to have to go to the official EPL site and take a screen grab of the Swans on top of the table and use it for your screen saver.your boys are doing you proud.proud day for a Welshmen in Florida.
graham, go get another for my fantasy team!!
Seriously west ham, Dawson 9 million….a steal !
Now time to watch United get upset again.
Well, that’s 8 goals for the Swans and it’s still August. It took them until October 22 to get that many last year.
Brendan who??
Darke and McManaman I think are going a bit overboard on West Ham…there are worse teams than them in the EPL at the moment, this was just a bad game
Noticed that FSC is now doing goal updates via the score bug in the corner. Now those who hate ESPN for announcing scores have nowhere to run.
Let’s see, maybe United move Rooney before the window closes? 😉
Guy
i heard straight swap for Carroll!we won’t be able to do this in another week.
You’ve been reading The Mail again, haven’t you!
i did not think i was being obvious but you found my weakness.
I dislike Rafael very much, I hope he gets a rash.
Swansea are looking good but what about them Toffees?
that is a nasty gash wow that is going to leave a mark.
Well-deserved equalizer from West Bromwich Albion. The Baggies look like a really strong team this season.
Cheers,
The Gaffer
So for 70 minutes Spurs dominate, Lukaku made the difference for West Brom, but lets not get swept up in the moment because of the ending. obviuosly you can shoulda, woulda, coulda about Spurs missed chances. But to say West Brom deserved the point after being dominated for 70 mins is quite absurd.
West Brom finished the game well and could have scored one more. They deserved to get an equalizer not for how they played over the 90 minutes, but based on how well they finished the match.
Lukaku had a wonderful end to the game. Caused Spurs a lot of trouble.
Cheers,
The Gaffer
Spurs scored 3 but 2 were offside, although gallas’s header back to bale on replay looks like he was level not offside. Spurs don’t get the Rub.. I’m sure the knives will be out for AVB.
No knives necessary. It’s a draw. It’s not as if it was a defeat.
Cheers,
The Gaffer
I agree, there should be no knives, but the AVB hate is strong in the London media, finishing is the key, I will take 18 shots on goal ech game In a heartbeat
Granted Spurs played well the first half but nevertheless West Brom held it to the half. A number of good chances but Foster didn’t make a real save until 44th minute. Spurs blew many chances. West Brom did improve in the second half and some defending mistakes cost Spurs. I was hoping for a win but there is always next week. Tottenham need to make some defense decisions. Glad to hear Dawson wants to fight for his spot as he should.
Yikes @ that gash. Gonna be more than a couple stitches.
Rooney is set to be out for four weeks after the gash in his leg from the collision with Hugo Rodallega.
Cheers,
The Gaffer
Manchester United is a make-believe paper tiger this season. They won’t need Basel to expose them this season.
Flying start for AVB at Tottenham. WBA should have won this game.
Spurs 18 shots on goal west brom 7, spurs 66% possession. Horrbile goal keeping by Freidel for the West Brom goal.
Lukaku made the difference for west brom, once again, should have been over at bloody half time, finishing by bale, Defoe was terrible.
West Brom looked better in the last 20 minutes but outside of that they were dominated by Spurs.
Still in a better position than we were last season, we had 0 pints from 2 games last year. Next week at home to Norwich..hopefully business will be concluded with addition of Willan and Ade will start hopefully. As should Siguardson. Livermore needs to learn to not blast the ball every time he passes the ball.
As a hardcore Shakhtar supporter I say keep hands off Willan. Or have Levy taste his own medicine and fork at least £40m.
LOL
Terrific win for Everton and they are on course on becoming the better team in the city of Liverpool, if they haven’t already. They are also buying very wisely with Niang next in line. I definitely see Everton in the top 6.
AVB is already under pressure with a draw at home. West Brom were great especially after Lukaku came on. Great business for them to get him on loan.
The Swans are once again playing pleasing football but are scoring for fun. Laudrup will be in the conversation for manager of the year at the end of the season.
A win would have been more deserving of Spurs domination fro 70 minutes, i don’t think its the system or AVB’s fault but i’m sure he will be battered in the media… At some point the players have to own missing the opportunities.
Brad Frieldel, looked everyday of his 41 years 98 days on that corner, may as well have been a cut out. Benny didn’t attack the ball, neither did Lennon, just very poor defending on that corner.
A shame Gallas was offside for the winner to be denied in the 94th minute for spurs.
it sucks because the system is creating all the opportunities needed for a team to win and win comfortably, its the lack of finishing, what AVB supposed to do if they dont take the chances they have. 1st half spurs had 10 shots on goal WBA had 1 a free kick from reid that missed but 30 foot over the bar. Lennon doesn’t push forward enough in the 4-2-3-1 system, he leaves wholes up front that allow the opposition to regain control. He will hopefully be replaced by Willan.
Liverpool are at the bottom of the table. Rodgers out! 🙂
Tomorrow’s Liverpool vs City game will be very interesting especially after today’s results.
Swansea is quickly becoming my second team.
how do you have a 2nd team in the same league
When your first love is in the championship with ken bates at the helm.
That Rooney Gash looks pretty bad, bad enough to be out fro 6-8 weeks minimum.
same old chelsea…always cheating
surely the rub has to wear out soon for chelsea…jesus!
leave it to a Spanish player to cheat dive whatever you want to call it.that is crap
Replays clearly show he did get clipped. A harsh yellow in my book.
Did Rudy Fernandez give Fernando Torres diving lessons?
Horrifying injury for Rooney. I may make fun of the guy’s hair plugs all the time but I hate to see anyone get hurt like that.
Get well, Wayne!
Ben Arfa’s ball control is out of this world. It seems like he glides past multiple defenders with the greatest of ease every time he gets the ball.
Torres gets us a pen, dives, and scores a goal all in one match that is match pricesless.
