FOX Soccer today launched its own soccer blog to complement its online content from FOXSoccer.com.

FOX’s blog is built on the popular Tumblr platform. The design of FOX Soccer’s blog is clean and elegant. And, believe it or not, but a RSS feed has been added (something that’s been missing from FOXSoccer.com for, like, forever).

Content wise, the blog is pretty stark. There are a couple of season previews that link back to the FOXSoccer.com website. But since the blog launched today, I’ll cut them some slack.

It will be interesting, however, to see if FOX Soccer will try to differentiate its content on the blog compared to their flagship website. And if so, how they’ll do it. The opening post on the blog mentions a few ideas, but it sounds like nothing different than what readers can already find on FOXSoccer.com. According to the blog, “You will get more of what you expect from FOX Soccer: the exclusive access, the smart commentary and the highlights from the biggest games. It’s also where we’ll be rolling out a lot of new features we’re very excited about – video, real-time commentary and interaction with our staff and analysts, infographics and photography. But most of all, we hope it’s a place that you’ll share with your friends and come to call home.”

Will FOX Soccer’s blog be something to pay attention to, or a blip on the radar? We’ll have to wait and see, but in the meantime, feel free to share your opinions in the comments section below.
