Oscar Signs For Chelsea FC For A Fee Of Around £25m

Chelsea has signed Oscar for a fee thought to be around £25m.

The Brazilian attacking midfielder will meet up with the Chelsea squad after the Summer Olympics. Oscar is on the Brazilian squad, who kick off their first match tournament.

According to the Chelsea club website,

Oscar, full name Oscar dos Santos Emboaba Junior, who will be 21 in September, is a Brazilian international who played for two clubs in his homeland prior to his move.

Having come through the youth system at Sao Paulo, he graduated to the first team in 2008, the same year he was part of the Brazil side that won the Under-17 World Championships. That feat had also been achieved the previous year.

His time at Sao Paulo came to an end in December 2010 with a move to Internacional, a club based in Porto Alegre in the very south of the country. In 2011 and 2012 they won the local state championship and Internacional also used Oscar as a substitute in the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup, the competition to be contested by Chelsea in December, although they suffered a shock defeat by Congolese side Mazembe.

Oscar, who played international football at every level from Under-15 to Under-20, made his debut for Brazil’s senior side in September 2011, coming on as a substitute in a 0-0 draw against big rivals Argentina.

He made his full debut in a win over Denmark in May and his most recent cap, his sixth, was in June when he scored his first international goal although Brazil were beaten 4-3 by Argentina in New Jersey, USA, as Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick.

Oscar’s most notable moment on the international stage so far was in the final of the Under-20 World Cup in Colombia when he scored a hat-trick in a 3-2 extra-time win against Portugal.

This summer Chelsea has signed Eden Hazard, Oscar, Marko Marin and Thorgan Hazard — over £71million. And Chelsea’s transfer signings aren’t over yet as they’ve been touted to be interested in signing Hulk, Victor Moses and Andre Schurrle.

  1. Chelsea really needs to have a yellow and blue away kit similar to the ’09 away kit for next year. Luiz, Ramires, Piazon, Oscar, and possibly Hulk it is only fitting.

    1. That’s the best I could find under deadline. He looks like a scrawny Brazilian midfielder 😉

      The Gaffer

  2. Ha. Chelsea sign a super talented midfielder Brazilian, just like Man U will also do in a few days, and Liverpool can’t even sign Allen. I wonder what the league table will look at the end of the season..

  3. I love this kid – he may be the next box-to-box dynamo. Has the work rate of Ramires but with a bit better vision and offensive instincts. Ramires is a great run and crosser, but Oscar plays quite clever.

  4. 5. 25m and the death to Josh McEachran’s CFC career. CFC fans have been going on and on about Josh but he will have to be moved on because money plays.

It is great to see FFP working already. PSG and Chelsea have put down the gaunlet Platini, will you do anything about it? (rhetorical question, we know the answer)
