Tottenham Hotspur kicks off its 2012 US summer tour with a friendly against LA Galaxy tonight at Home Depot Center. If you live in the United States, the only way to watch the game is on ESPN3 at 10:30pm ET, so get your computers or smartphones ready for what should be an interesting match to watch.

Interesting, why, you may ask? First, will Gareth Bale play? The Welsh wizard was supposed to be injured, which is why he isn’t playing for Great Britain’s Olympic football team. Team GB plays its first game on Thursday, but it’s quite possible that Bale will put in an appearance tonight in southern California. So what happened to that injury? Originally, it was reported the Bale aggravated an injury to his hip and back, but that he would still be ready for the start of the Premier League season. So if he does play for Spurs tonight, you have to wonder how real the injury reports really were.

Second, how will Andre Villas-Boas‘s line up? Can we expect to see his defenders play a high-line? Are we going to learn anything from this game, or will it be one of those preseason matches where there’s so much chopping and changing of players that we won’t be able to discern anything?

Third, I’m interested in seeing how some of the B-players on Tottenham’s squad do, particularly Harry Kane. The striker was very impressive for the England u19 team in their quarter-final victory against France in the u19 European Championship. In previous years on US tours, we’ve been entertained by up-and-coming Tottenham players including Andros Townsend, who I remember was running up and down the left wing against San Jose Earthquakes in 2010.
