Swansea City hasn’t completed their first season in the Premier League yet, but they’ve already unveiled their new away kit for next season that will hit the streets on June 7.

In a brilliant marketing move by Swansea City and Adidas, the Welsh club has revealed a very attractive away kit that one, commemorates the club’s centenary with a special club crest and two, features the colors of the Welsh flag — red, white and green. If you have Welsh heritage and/or you’re a fan or admirer of the Swans, how could you resist getting this away shirt that touches your Welsh pride and sense of history?

On top of that, it’s designed by Adidas, so you have the trademarked three stripes down the sleeve and clean, crisp look-and-feel — far better than the current orange away shirt that seemed like an afterthought (despite Swansea’s close ties to Netherlands and total football).

As a Swansea City supporter, of course I’m biased. But this is one of the best away shirt designs they’ve ever had in their history — even better than the 1970’s one that was a ripoff of Barcelona’s 1970’s kit (See! The Swans link to Barcelona isn’t just a new fad). And better than one of the best Wales home shirts, also by Adidas, from 1980 (the one they wore when they beat England 4-1).

Swansea’s new away shirt features the new 100 year centenary crest, green stripes down each sleeve, a red v-neck collar and green trim near the bottom of the sleeve. On the back of the shirt, near the top beneath the collar are the words “The Jacks,” the nickname for Swansea City supporters.

The away shorts are white with green trim, while the socks are green.

Swansea has certainly been lighting up the Premier League this season. Whatever happens next season, their away kit with green socks will certainly stand out from the crowd.
