EPL Talk Podcast Hits 2 Million Downloads Milestone

podcast 600x454 EPL Talk Podcast Hits 2 Million Downloads Milestone

EPL Talk hit a new milestone today by logging 2 million downloads of its popular twice-weekly soccer podcast.

Six years ago this month, the first episode of the EPL Talk Podcast launched featuring an interview with none other than Steven Cohen, then of World Soccer Daily. The show began as a weekly interview podcast featuring chats with some of the most interesting names behind the beautiful game such as Paul ScholesRay Hudson, Alan Mullery, Gabriele Marcotti, Steve McClaren and Craig Bellamy, but over time, it developed into its current format — which is a twice weekly analysis show.

We’ve released over 500 episodes, and the podcast is now the second longest running podcast (A Game of Two Halves takes the number one spot). The pod has been through plenty of changes, but I hope you’ll agree with me that the team of Laurence McKenna, Kartik Krishnaiyer, Kristan Heneage and Matt Duncan deserve a lot of praise for their hard work and expert analysis, as well as all of the other hosts and co-hosts we’ve had (plus our excellent guests).

We have lots of exciting announcements to make in the coming weeks regarding the EPL Talk Podcast, including what we’ll be up to this summer. Thank you to everyone for your patronage. We hope you find that the podcast quite enjoyable.

Congratulations- I think the EPLTalk podcast was the first podcast I ever subscribed- all the shows and formats have been great. All the best for another 2 million downloads and thanks to everyone that makes it happen.

  3. Ahmed Yussuf says:

Congratulation ! Much deserved, personally I love the pod, been listening to it for almost 2 years!!

    Cheers,

    Ahmed

  4. Tony Butterworth says:

2000000 downloads and I still can’t stand it for more than 30 seconds – sorry :)

    • The Gaffer says:

Sorry to hear that Tony. Can you let us know why, and also what other podcasts you do listen to that you like?

      Cheers,
      The Gaffer

  5. David G says:

I enjoy the podcast but one thing that I think coudl improve the pod is, and I can’t remember off the top of my head, either Matt or Kristen need to bring just a little more energy when speaking. When they talk for a few minutes at a time I find myself starting to lose focus

    • Jim S says:

Totally agree, both Laurence McKenna and Kartik Krishnaiyer are excellent, but the other guys are monotone, lacking pace and energy (although very knowledgeable). Still, I enjoy the pod overall, thank you and congrats!

P.s. It would be nice to get Richard Farley and Jesse Chula back on the pod occasionally, miss them.

    Chris:

What could I say but a great achievement. After all these years still the best podcast out there.

  7. The Gaffer says:

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I think the current podcast crew is fantastic. Matt is growing into his place on the pod, and there’s good humor between him and Laurence. Meanwhile, Laurence has done a fantastic job transitioning from being a podcast pundit to host. Kartik is brilliant as ever. Kristan, while not the most emotional speaker, is a brilliant pundit and well versed on the Premier League and European football.

    Cheers,
    The Gaffer
