Chelsea and adidas have officially released photos of the new home kit for the 2012-13 season.

The most prominent new feature of the Chelsea home shirt is that the trim is completely in gold — everything from the three stripes down the sleeve, to the club crest as well as the adidas and Samsung logos. There’s also a gold ‘CFC’ motif on the rear of the neck, while subtle dark blue stripes are featured through the front of the shirt. There’s also gold piping around the arms and neck. This design detail is repeated through the shorts and socks.

The addition of the gold color to the Chelsea kit is to celebrate the 2012 Summer Olympics or, as adidas refers to it in their press release, “the year of sport and celebration in the capital in 2012.”

The new Chelsea home kit will be available to buy May 10th 2012 but can be pre-ordered online at www.chelseafc.com/megastore.
