After a week with seven draws, winning was clearly off the agenda for many teams who seemed content with playing out a stalemate.

No where was this dose of Christmas charity more stark than within the top six where only Spurs and Manchester United could muster victories. Not that Spurs are in danger of catching the Manchester clubs any time soon, even with their game in hand the chance of them overcoming the 17.67 gap seems rather unlikely.

United keep chipping away at City’s lead and they made another sizeable in-road this week, pulling back 3.11 points after thrashing Wigan. While United’s Christmas fixtures look favourable, Wigan and Blackburn at home, the low standard of opposition means that Sir Alex’s men need to bang in the goals to get a good return, a 2-0 victory over bottom placed Rovers will only score 5.46 points. City play Sunderland away next where a 0-1 victory will win them 6.49 points, so should both win it is unlikely that United will topple their next-door neighbours.

Newcastle and Spurs both enjoyed their Christmas away win bonuses with 0-2 wins at Bolton and Norwich respectively. Norwich’s position of tenth means that Spurs scored (7.66) higher than the Toon (6.76) whose opponents sat second bottom.

With all the draws there were no big movers this week. Wolves came out the best of the draws with their backs to the wall performance at Arsenal and took 4.10 points in the process. Fulham and Blackburn also scored around the four point mark for their efforts against much higher ranked opposition.

Manchester United unsurprisingly sit on top of the form table, and have scored a massive 11.31 points more than anyone else over the last five games.

  • Highest Score: Tottenham 7.66 points
  • Lowest Score: Wigan 1.28 points
  • Best draw score: Wolves 4.10
