DirecTV has reached an agreement with FOX to continue carrying all FOX Networks including FOX Soccer, FOX Soccer Plus and FOX Deportes.

“We both know the past ten days have been challenging, but we’re pleased that both sides could eventually come together to ensure our viewers continue to enjoy Fox programming,” a statement revealed.

If a deal had not been reached, DirecTV would have pulled the plug on FOX Soccer and FOX Soccer Plus, cutting off soccer fans from watching the Champions League games scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. Thankfully both parties came to their senses.

It’s somehow quite fitting that DirecTV and FOX reached an agreement on Halloween. Keeping FOX Soccer and FOX Soccer Plus on DirecTV will definitely be a treat for soccer fans in the United States. However, my opinion regarding the whole dispute is one of great dissatisfaction. The public dispute between DirecTV and FOX was like watching two children engaged in a “he said, she said” argument. And worst of all, it seemed like both parties were using scare tactics to get the public concerned. Personally, I find it despicable that either party would use the public as pawns in contract negotiations that should be kept private.

Like I predicted ten days ago, these ridiculous contract negotiations usually end up being settled at the eleventh hour, and that’s precisely what happened between DirecTV and FOX.

Now we just have to hope that DirecTV customers don’t get stuck with the bill of having to make up the difference between what DirecTV paid before and what they’re paying now to broadcast FOX channels.
