It had to happen sooner or later. One of the most incredible soccer matches in the history of the sport has found its way on to the silver screen.

The 2005 Champions League Final between AC Milan and Liverpool will live in infamy for many soccer fans and Liverpool supporters around the world. And now the game is part of the storyline for a new film titled Will that premieres in Liverpool on October 16, 2011 and will be released across the United Kingdom on October 21. There are no plans as of press time to show the film in the United States.

The movie stars Bob Hoskins (from Who Framed Roger Rabbit). The film tells the story of an orphan who journeys across Europe to the 2005 Champions League Final in Istanbul. There are even cameos starring Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.

(perhaps the best chant ever out of Liverpool)

    • Havin a laugh? says:

coming from the guy w/a west ham united badge logo, interesting.

      • trickybrkn says:

Its a great chant… The sort of chant you’d hear with 20 mins to go when well ahead…

and I have no love for Liverpool or their fans, but you have to give credit where credit is due.

        • Rhys says:

and I have no huge love for West Ham, but their blowing bubbles anthem is awesome. I sing it all the time.

          YNWA

        • having a laugh? says:

united have the same tune w/similar lyrics except w/georgie best – now that makes sense as he was one of the best! a song singing about wishing for a team of carragher’s is nonsense as he’s not fit to lace the boots of most.

Sorry to post this, but its one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to words….infamous means something that is of a very bad reputation. December 7, 1941 is infamous. Al Capone is infamous. Liverpool winning one of the greatest games ever played is “famous” It is, however, infamous from a Milan perspective. Minor technicality, but one that drives me nuts. All in all, great article. Sorry for my post.

  4. gargoyle says:

    Nauseating.

    • nssmuckers says:

I have nothing against Liverpool but this belongs on the Hallmark channel or something…impossible to watch without cringing.

It actually looks like an interesting story but the way they seem to want to tell it is just dripping with melodrama and cheese…just painful to watch.

  5. FCAsheville says:

I don’t really care about a theatrical release. I will deinfinitely buy it on DVD or look for it streaming.
