The clock is winding down and it is time for teams to start wheeling and dealing in the transfer market. Today’s “Daily Ticker” includes all the latest transfer happenings, a continued fallout for Arsenal after their embarrassing loss at Old Trafford, your last chance to pose questions for Liverpool chairman Tom Werner, and much more.

Transfer News:

  • Tottenham Hotspur, according to The Telegraph, have less than a 50% chance of signing Scott Parker from West Ham, even though the England midfielder has expressed that he wants to head back to the Premiership. The issue seems to be money and the constant changing of terms in the deal. West Ham want 8 million pounds for Parker, but Redknapp has submitted a bid of 6 million pounds, and reportedly tossed a player into the mix, whom is thought to be Jake Livermore. Chelsea, Aston Villa, and QPR are also in the running to sign the last year’s PWA Footballer of the Year. Another issue with the deal is that Sam Allardyce wants enough time and money to sign a replacement for Parker if a deal is done. In other Tottenham news, Ledley King told Sky Sports that he feels that a decision needs to be made over Luka Modric as soon as possible. King sites the distraction as the cause of the poor play of the team. He relates this incident to the Dimitar Berbatov transfer saga of 2008, which caused Spurs to get off to a poor start. The defender says he wants decisions to be made, so that the club and its players can go about their business. If things could not get any wilder in North London, Tottenham are looking to sign Owen Hargreaves on a free transfer, and Palacios is closing in on a move to Stoke City.
  • Chelsea FC are making news in the transfer market, as they launched a bid for Liverpool’s Raul Meireles. Early yesterday, Yossi Benayoun was reported to be in talks to leave the Stamford Bridge side, and according to reports, he was part of the 7 million pound, plus player deal, which would send him back to Anfield. However, Liverpool have rejected the bid, in order to keep their best player from the second half of last season at the club. Benayoun is being courted by Spurs, Arsenal, and French club Lille. Chelsea are determined to sign Alvaro Pereira and Modric. They remain optimistic that the deals will get done due to the desire of the players to move to the Blues. Chelsea swiped Chivas youngster Ulises Davila yesterday.

  • Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder, has declared that he will not be making the move to Old Trafford in the coming days. The Dutchman revealed that he has not had any formal talks with either Manchester City or United.
  • Mark van Bommel will not be headed to Manchester City after the club attempted to sign the player from A.C. Milan. Mino Raiola, van Bommel’s agent, says that City tried to lure his player to Manchester to replace Yaya Toure, when he is on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations in early 2012.
  • Days after debuting for his favorite team, Romelu Lukaku looks to be headed out of Stamford Bridge on a short-term loan deal with Stoke City. The Potters are looking for help in their Europa League campaign and could use some extra talent for the group stages. The Potters are also looking to sign Cameron Jerome from Birmingham City as well.
  • Arsenal are trying to restart their season with some new signings. Wenger is close to a deal for Brazilian defender Andre Santos. In addition, the Gunners have been tied with Chelsea’s Alex, Florent Malouda, and as mentioned above, Yossi Benayoun.
  • The George John transfer to Blackburn fell apart yesterday. John has said, “The timing wasn’t right.” The defender has returned to FC Dallas, but will maintain contact with Rovers, despite rumors that he is looking to sign a long term deal with FC Dallas.
  • Samir Nasri claims that PSG attempted to sign him, but could not because of a lack of funds.
  • Davide Santon’s agent says the Inter Milan defender is focused on heading to Newcastle United.
  • Armand Traore has signed with QPR and Neil Warnock says he expects things to be, “…very, very busy,” at the newly promoted side, as the transfer market comes to a close. Last week, the club’s new owner said he expects QPR to sign four to five players by the end of the summer window.
  • Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz is headed to Real Betis on a season long loan.
  • Mexican forward Giovanni Dos Santos may be on his way to Wigan Athletic.

Manchester United 8-2 Arsenal… The Fallout (cont.):

Yesterday, Arsene Wenger apologized for the club’s loss, calling it, “humiliating and difficult.” The Gunner’s manager said he has no excuses for the defeat. The manager has been backed by the club’s owner and the board of directors to turn things around at the club, starting with a few signings. Wenger stated that he will not quit the club amid fears over his health, which have been linked to high stress levels.

Supporters who traveled from London to Manchester on Sunday will be offered tickets to a future Arsenal away match. The fans were praised by the club for their continued support of the team and manager throughout the game.

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman called out the attitude at the club and stated on his Twitter account that Arsenal are supposed to be winning trophies. Paul Merson also criticized Wenger for not having a, “Plan B.” The Sky Sports pundit said that it is unfair for players to be thrown out onto the pitch after being told to just go out and play.

England Team News:

Robert Green has dropped out of the England squad, due to injury, for the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers. Capello has selected Championship goalkeeper, Frankie Fielding, to replace the limp Green.

Misc.:

Sepp Blatter had harsh words for the English FA yesterday, saying that they are attempting to, “destroy,” FIFA, in order to get back at the organization after Sir Stanley Rous lost the presidency 37 years ago. The head of FIFA claims that they have failed to accept that they are no longer in charge of the game.

Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan is headed to Inter Milan.

Ex-Brazilan manager Dunga is now in charge of Qatari club, Al Rayyan.
