I’m back again — this time with tips for the Fantasy Premier League instead of ESPN’s Premier Fantasy — with some potential transfer targets that should be watched for Gameweek 3 and beyond.

Michel Vorm (£4.0 million)

When trying to buy quality players to lead your team to glory, you need to be able to have budget room. There probably isn’t a better goalie at a cheaper price than Michel Vorm, the Dutch stopper who plays for Swansea City. The 27 year old has already stepped up in his first two games this season to keep his club in games. While Manchester City obliterated Swansea in the opener, Vorm had a fantastic opening night making a series of great saves to keep the game where it was. In his second match vs Wigan, he again was the hero making a series of saves including a penalty save against Ben Watson which allowed Swansea to gain their first point of the season. At his price, Vorm is an absolute bargain because unlike anyone else at that price, he is a quality goalie who starts every match. He should be benched against clubs that score often but against teams that are around the same level with Swansea, he’s a reliable player to put in for the week.

Scott Sinclair (£6.0 million)

Another player from Swansea, Scott Sinclair is arguably the most explosive player on the team. The 22 year old who was brought up by Chelsea made a move to Swansea last year and absolutely dazzled in the Championship. Considering he’s credited as a midfielder, he led the team last year with 22 goals in the Championship. In his most recent game against Wigan, Sinclair was close to scoring and while the game ended scoreless, Sinclair was the most likely to find the net.  It will be a matter of time before Sinclair begins to find the net and at only 6 million, he would be a steal on your team.

Jose Bosingwa (£5.5 million)

With new coach Andre Villas Boas, change in the team from the Ancelotti era was expected. One notable change we’ve seen so far is how Villas Boas is picking players that have more speed and cover more ground up and down the pitch. The Portuguese coach has appeared to go with Jose Bosingwa over Branislav Ivanovic as the starting right-back. Bosingwa’s scintillating runs up forward to deliver crosses and link up with others have made him a regular in the starting eleven. Bosingwa’s assist against West Brom where he cleverly squeezed past two defenders and delivered a perfect low cross for Florent Malouda to poke in, likely cemented his status in Villas Boas’ game-plan. Considering Chelsea were co-leaders with Manchester City in allowing the fewest goals last season, Bosingwa looks like a worthwhile investment.

Victor Moses (£5.0 million)

With the departure of winger Cahrles N’Zogbia to Aston Villa, Roberto Martinez needed to find a new, explosive winger to help replace the departed Frenchman. That player looks to be 20 year old Nigerian Victor Moses, who after having a strong preseason, has taken his good form into the start of the new season. So far against Norwich City and Swansea City, Moses has been one of the most dangerous players on the team as his dribbling skills, pace, and shooting have regularly troubled his opponents. Moses will only continue to develop more throughout the season which could result in an impressive total of goals and assists considering how much he costs.

Ivan Klasnic (£6.0 million)

In the first fantasy Premier League article, I argued to get Kevin Davies because no one else on the team could be relied on for a regular amount of goals. While Davies has played well as usual, Ivan Klasnic has proven me wrong by stepping up with goals in the first two games of the season. Both goals have shown the quality finishing skills which have seen the Croation do well in Germany for Werder Bremen and in France with FC Nantes. With the departures of Elmander and Sturridge, someone besides Bolton captain Kevin Davies had to step up in front of the net and it looks like it is the experienced Klasnic.

Matthew Jarvis (£6.0 million)

Even though he faded towards the end of last season, Jarvis had a spectacular season  for Wolves as he was arguably one of their best players for a large portion of the season. Possessing creativity, pace and passing, Jarvis had an excellent season not only due to his impressive total of goals and assists but also because he was often the most dangerous player on Mick McCarthy’s team. Jarvis already has started off brightly where after getting an assist against Norwich, he both scored and assisted forward Kevin Doyle in the second game against Fulham. Wolves have been absolutely magnificent so far and expect Matthew Jarvis to continually play well resulting in plenty of goals and assists.

Gabriel Agbonlahor (£6.5 million)

During Martin O’Neil’s tenure at Aston Villa between 2006-2010, the Villains often finished in the top half of the table and was a difficult team to play against. In that time, Gabriel Agbonlahor emerged as one of the most consistent forwards in the EPL as he racked up numerous goals and assists every year. However, once O’Neil was sacked and Gerard Houllier took over, Agbonlahor begrudgingly accepted being played out of position as a left winger. As a result, his prolific scoring dropped off as the team struggled in general. However, in his second game under Alex McLeish against Blackburn Rovers, Agbonlahor put on an astonishing display of football from the left wing in the first half which resulted in a goal from 15 yards out, a long range effort that was barely saved by goalie Paul Robinson, and an assist in Villa’s second goal of the match which was scored by Emile Heskey. If Agbonlahor continues to have performances like that throughout the season, then Alex McLeish already has the answer as to who would replace Ashley Young as left winger.

Fabio (£5.0 million)/Phil Jones (£5.5 million)/Johnny Evans (£4.5 million)

In light of the defensive crisis that has hit Manchester United which will see Rio Ferdinand out till the end of August, Nemanja Vidic out until sometime in October, and Rafael out for more than two to three months, youngsters like Fabio, Johnny Evans and newcomer Phil Jones all look to get increased playing time in the coming weeks. Fabio had a breakout season last year as he was a reserved but tough player on the right wing. With great pace moving forward and tenacious defending skills, Fabio looks like he’ll feature often as right back possibly in a platoon situation with Chris Smalling throughout the season. Johnny Evans has had an up and down time in his brief career with United where after starting off well at the club, some costly mistakes and injuries hurt his status on the team. However, he slowly came back last season and by the end looked like he had regained his form which has spilled over into this season. Then there’s Phil Jones, the versatile 19 year old defender who throughout the preseason and in the match against West Brom has shown why United were after him. All three players are inexpensive and are all in good form which makes United confident that they’ll weather the early temporary losses of Vidic and Ferdinand.
